Second Act is an amiable piece of fluff that succeeds due to its charismatic cast, warm sense of storytelling, likable characters and some minor surprises in its adornment of the genre formula. A good effort from both Lopez and Segal.
Second Act isn't the most surprising present under the tree this season. But with Lopez turning in a heartfelt performance and the rest of the performers following her lead, it's difficult to dislike the results.
