REPLICAS can't decide which note it wants to play, so it slams on them all in random order. REPLICAS exists as the kind of movie that raises lots of interesting - if oft-asked - questions and then immediately ditches them.

The filmmakers manage to avoid every potentially interesting choice for far dumber, and far more inexplicable, conclusions.

Never leans into any of the possibilities in favor of remaining a dumb, middle-of-the-road non-entity without purpose.

At any rate, the real bummer with "Replicas" is they spent too much time trying to explain how things were happening, when they should have just run with the film's inherent madness and put on more of a show.

If this story had been handled by any one of the filmmakers behind one of the other science fiction indie darlings of recent years, Replicas could have been made into something special.

Predictably preposterous, pushing the campy 'mad scientist' concept over-the-edge...

The final scene is so unbelievably, ridiculously terrible in so many ways that you'd be forgiven for thinking that the entire experience was an elaborate and pointless prank at your expense.

A textbook example of the kind of nonsense that typically opens in January, Replicas begins as so-bad-it's-good, then quickly morphs into merely it's-so-bad. A must-miss.

By the end the entire thing has grown so riddled with plot holes and absurdities that even Reeves's inadequacy has become an afterthought.

We're not even two weeks into the new year, but Replicas may already be 2019's most fun disaster.

It lands firmly on the 'Johnny Mnemonic' end of the Keanu sci-fi spectrum.

Replicas manages to be perversely entertaining for its fast-paced first half, if only because of the sheer absurdity of its storyline. But it eventually devolves into tedious thriller tropes...

The pseudo-science is intriguing and the solution ends up being overly simplistic, but logical. I never once felt like the science couldn't be real and wouldn't work. Does a nice job of building tension even if it ultimately doesn't payoff.

Poor audience members may only feel disoriented, as the line between A-movie, B-movie, and D-list embarrassment continues to futuristically blur.

"Replicas" is not without its laughs, even if they're at the expense of the film. For a bad movie, you could do a lot worse. Boot the mapping service, baby.

If you woke up in a glitching simulation, this janky garbage would be projected on every screen, possibly under the title Human Movie.

The movie closes on a wonderfully strange note that's the cherry on top of the weird little sundae that is this movie.

But as a scientist struggling with enormous moral choices and debilitating grief? It is distracting enough that I almost didn't notice those plot holes I kept falling into.

This movie missed the mark on all of it. It's truly talented to miss the mark on everything.
