Halloween might be a so-so horror movie, or it might be amazing. I honestly don't care. It's a film about a strong woman standing up and doing what it takes to protect her family. On that mark, it hits every note.

Lejos de ser una película que reinvente al género, Halloween, quizás la más violenta de todas, tiene más de reimaginación moderna que de secuela. Si sumamos eso a lo baja que había quedado la vara después de tantos años, alcanza.

...Gordon Green and company have succeeded wildly and, on top of everything, have managed to add a cathartic message about surviving trauma to the proceedings.

It's a welcome addition to the franchise - one that allows us to ignore the many forgettable installments that came before.

Curtis imbues the 57-year old Strode with a lifetime of regrets and untreated mental issues that nonetheless do not erase the genuinely good person we met back in '78.

Halloween is simultaneously better than it probably should have been and a missed opportunity undone by bloat and one catastrophically uninteresting subplot.

Despite its flaws, Halloween is still one of the better sequels to the original timeline. It clips along at a good pace as it hurtles toward the inevitable conflict with an increasing intensity.

In yet another example of a franchise that refuses to die here comes the 11th Halloween film, and while it's not brilliant or terribly clever it is certainly good enough and scary enough to make up for some of the more awful sequels in the series.

Curtis does a great job of playing a woman who has spent her life waiting for the worst. She's more than a badass, she's a survivor and we get a sense of the cost.

The new Halloween does a decent enough job of essentially remaking the original with modifications to fit modern, bloodier tastes, and some different twists at the end.
