This is a very a good movie despite how accurate it maybe, they found a way to make it enjoyable while still containing elements from Freddie Mercury's life. As always a Queen song is most enjoyable and to see and hear them come to life on the big screen with modern day graphics gave me goosebumps.
I wish I could bring Freddie Mercury back to life so that he and Sascha Baron Cohen could get together and bitch about how the surviving bandmates of Queen have basically shat on Freddie's memory by making such a shallow, self-serving film, and then collaborate to bring us the truly great film epic about who Freddie really was. Alas, we're just stuck with this terrible film, about which the best thing I can say is that the second half wasn't quite as shitty as the first half.
Being a huge Queen I had a lot of expectation when going into this film. Although the film does gloss over a few things and certainly over relys on montages, I must say that this was a fun watch and a fascinating look into the life of one Rock n Rolls greatest front man Freddie Mercury and one of the greatest Rock groups of all time Queen. It does a great job of humanising Freddie to the audience and allows to see deeper into the story of Queen. Special mention to Rami Malek who was remarkable as Freddie Mercury. Overall a good film with great music! What more could you want?
It has odd errors! and misses out things! but overall it is a fun movie! and celebrates Queen in a good, uplighting way! that goes out on a high, I know people say there should have been more behind the scenes with Freddie! and go further with his battle with AIDS! but I think Freddie himself would have been happy to see the film end the way it does!! focus on the energy and love for life and music! this is how he should be remembered!
Amazing movie! This movie has been pre-ordered! I've already watched it 2x in theaters. I'll watch it hundreds of times over when the DVD arrives. I'm a huge fan of Queen and I must say they did an amazing job. To mimic Freddie's moves the way he did was so impressive. Bravo! This movie deserves an award for "movie of the century" or something. Great acting!! I forgot a couple times it wasn't really Queen in the movie.
Was avoiding seeing this as was reading reviews saying it was just a money making machine for the Queen boys still alive. Wished I hadn't forked out to see it in cinema. How could they turn the life of the most eccentric, hedonistic front men into quite a dull film. And the last 20-mins of the film being the whole Live Aid set! Really! I can watch that on You Tube.
